Hello Team Casorso,
I am very excited to be joining the Casorso learning community. I am familiar with the school as all three of my children attended Casorso. This is my 25th year as a school administrator. I have taught and/or been an administrator in 1 high school, 3 middle schools and 3 elementary schools. This is my 8th school.
I have already been impressed by the care, empathy, and commitment to learning that are so clearly part of this school. I wanted to take a moment to share with you some of the beliefs that guide my work.
• I believe all students can learn and want to achieve
• I believe relationships are the foundation for learning
• I believe every member of our school community is important, valued and helps build our culture – this includes you!
• I believe it is important to use manners, be respectful and show gratitude
• I believe that diversity adds richness to the depth of our educational experiences
• I believe that education has a key role in Truth and Reconciliation
• I believe that behaviour is communication
• I believe self-esteem is grown through overcoming challenges
• I believe that fair is not always equal
• I believe the focus of discipline is on teaching
• I believe children are best able to learn and thrive when they feel known, valued, and connected.
• I believe parents are the primary educators, and school is an extension of the home
• I believe families are essential partners in children’s learning. Teachers bring professional knowledge of curriculum, instruction and child development, while families bring invaluable knowledge of their children. When we communicate openly and work together, children benefit.
• I believe that together we are going to have a positive year of growth and learning
As I begin my first year, I will be listening and learning while working alongside all of you and our families to support a welcoming, inclusive school where each student can experience success.
Sincerely,
Brady Holland
